Theatre and Dance kicks off fall semester

Chart of Landing, a site-specific performance by dancer/choreographer Oguri and composer Paul Chavez will begin outside Bridges Hall of Music. Dancers, including Pomona students, will traverse Marston Quad and make their way through the Smith Campus Center, concluding in the Forum and Edmunds Ballroom. Guests are invited to follow the performers. Refreshments will be available.

Choregrapher and dancer Oguri is a native of Japan whose study of radical visual arts led to his career as a dancer.  A founding member of the Body Weather Farm in Hakushu, he and his partner Roxanne Steinberg are currently artists-in-residence at the Electric Lodge in Venice where they lead Body Weather Laboratory workshops.  Paul Chavez, California-born composer, instrumentalist, and sound designer, uses sound to explore a variety of terrains. He has studied at UC Santa Barbara and the UCLA Graduate School of Architecture.
